Know your Credit Score

Your credit score is used by lenders to assess whether you are financially fit. If you are not financially fit (you have a low or poor credit score) many lenders may not be prepared to lend to you or, they may charge a higher interest rate and fees to reflect the perceived higher risk.

Australia introduced Open Banking regulations in 2021. This means participating lenders must share your credit history with the credit reporting agencies. Lender use these reports to assess your credit history and repayment performance, that is, what loans you have (& have had) and whether your repayments (past & current) are on time.

You may request your credit score at any time through one of two agencies. We can obtain this for you, with your consent, and assist you to understand your score and its’ implications for your current and ongoing credit needs.

Warning: It is important to remember that if you request your credit score, it does not affect your score. However, when a lender obtains your credit score (makes a credit enquiry) this is recorded on your credit report. Multiple credit enquiries can adversely affect your credit score &/or a lender’s assessment of your credit worthiness.
